It is nice and cool in summer. Could be used as a wine cellar or a shelter in case of a hurricane or a tornado. The hatch that leads to the cellar is located in the dining room and also provides access to the crawl space.
A sump pit is located in the cellar. The sump pit has a pump that automatically turns on when water collected from the foundation drainage system reaches a certain level and pumps water out to the field.
